My Darling, The result of the Court Martial came out yesterday late. It was 'reprimanded'. This was forwarded to G.H.Q. where they quashed the whole thing, sentence and all so that's the end of that. Fancy all that fuss and now to end in nothing it's too childish. We're still in billets here but go back nearer the trenches on Friday. There is an extraordinary amount to do here. We are kept busy all day. Esme went on leave today. I like the name Ivar very much but don't fix on anything till I come home as I might even think of something better. This billet is a farm home. Today we soaked a lot of bread in whisky and threw it to the hens etc. They all got quite tight it was very funny. We also have a noose which we put on the ground and hold the other end; I caught a guinea fowl and two hens in a quarter of an hour. I am refereeing boxing for Oliver’s battalion tomorrow. They have got Boy Brooke as C/O he is very good. None of the new officers have arrived yet. [Letter unfinished]
