My Darling Di, I got your letter posted in Paris last Wed on Monday, so it took nearly a week to get here; I got your London one before it. We move from here tomorrow nearer the line, and go in on Friday come out on Sunday evening and go back for 6 to 10 days, not very hard is it. Our leave is going on pretty quick and you'll see my handsome face almost for certain towards the end of February will you be pleased Darling or rather bored. I expect you'll be completely out of hand and require several hard smackings. We beat the Sergeants again at football today we have a very good team I am Captain (who's clever). I also had company sports and company boxing both of which were very good. I went over to the Coldstream and played poker with Humphrey De Trafford etc I lost 250 Francs (A little stupid). What a pity poor Herbert's daily rations have been reduced. Still you mustn’t do it as it is bound to weaken you. I expect you will be thinking of getting up soon. N.B. will be rather bleak I'm afraid. Robert Fulmer was hit by a stray shell today they are afraid he will not live, bad luck isn't it? We relieve the 2nd Batt. tomorrow in billets it will be rather fun seeing them. I judged boxing for the Grenadiers yesterday. The great John Hopley was there he's a very nice fellow. Every sort of general came up and congratulated me on the result of the Court Martial, I felt like Nurse Edith Cavell. I am giving this to a fellow who is going on leave so you will get it pretty soon. Has Moffat gone yet? Langley is still my servant. Darling I long for you awfully it will be topping at Rossdhu I am looking forward to it awfully. It's just like spring here now and the animals in the farmyard are behaving very badly. Goodbye my own Darling all my love to you sweetheart and a little to Herbert. Oliver whom I saw yesterday is sending Kak a joint telegram from he and I.
